NZLSA Conference Auckland 2008

About

Who are NZLSA?

As a short introduction, the New Zealand Law Students’ Association (NZLSA) is the overarching body which represents all law students in New Zealand; a membership base of approximately 8,000. The Association’s key role is to advocate for Law Students both within individual law schools and at a national level. In addition to this the NZLSA is responsible for the organisation and development of the four annual law student competitions: Bell Gully Mooting, Russell McVeagh Client Interviewing, Minter Ellison Rudd Watts Witness Examination and Buddle Findlay Negotiation. Through the offices of Education Vice President and Council of Legal Education Representatives, the NZLSA also has an active role in the development of the LLB, Legal Professionals course and other educational issues.

The NZLSA produces a quarterly magazine, LEX; 800 copies of which are distributed to all 5 law faculties nationwide. The Association has a website (www.nzlsa.org.nz) and organises a national Conference every year. This Conference being hosted in Wellington in 2009 is the most prestigious event on the NZLSA calendar and an event that everyone looks forward to!!

In 2009 the NZLSA is ably led by President Jeni Fountain and her team of Desley Horton, Anna Cornelius, Grace Brown, Aimee Scofield, Susanna Locke, Kitaj Woodward and Colin Fife.

Who are AULSS?

AULSS stands for the Auckland University Law Students’ Society which performs the function of organising social events and advocating on behalf of law students on campus. Every year they run mentoring programmes, arrange for second hand book stalls, organize law steins and the epic law ball!

The NZLSA Conference rotates around five law schools and in 2009 the Conference is being hosted by VUWLSS. In 2010, SOULS will have the pleasure and privilege of hosting NZLSA!
