Preliminary rounds of the Buddle Findlay Negotiation competition will take place on Level 0 of the Business School. Please note this is not the basement level. Please see your campus maps as to the location of the Business School. Please assemble at the Buddle Findlay banner in the foyer of the Business School 15 minutes before the start of each round in order to begin each negotiation on time.

The final will be held at the Buddle Findlay offices in the Price Waterhouse Coopers Building on Quay Street at 10am on Saturday 1 September and will judged by Graeme Hall, Michael Dineen and Jessica Carter. Please see the map for information on how to get to the venue.

Graeme Hall, Partner

Graeme is a litigation partner with broad experience in commercial litigation including Court action, arbitration and mediation. He has particular involvement in contractual disputes and professional indemnity actions. Graeme appears regularly in the High Court and also has experience in the Court of Appeal and Privy Council and before various Tribunals. He is regularly briefed to appear as counsel in mediations and arbitrations and frequently appears on complex interlocutory applications including injunctions. Graeme is an associate member of the Arbitrators and Mediators Institute of New Zealand Inc, a member of Lawyers Engaged in Alternative Dispute Resolution (LEADR) and a member of INSOL.

Jessica Carter

Jessica Carter is the Mediation Practice Adviser for the Department of Building and Housing. Prior to taking up this role in February 2006, Jessica was a mediator in private practice and a consultant in conflict management and dispute system design. She has also provided coaching for individuals in conflict, assisted clients to prepare for negotiations and mediations, and designed and delivered training programmes to develop people and performance capability. Jessica is a member of LEADR, has completed mediation and negotiation programs at Harvard Law School, a Master of Dispute Resolution in Sydney, and attended the International Ombudsman Association program for mediators at the United Nations Office, Geneva.

Michael Dineen, Partner

Michael is a partner at Buddle Findlay specializing in banking and finance and corporate trustee work (debt and participatory securities, unit trusts, group investment funds and superannuation funds). Michael is ranked as a leading banking and finance lawyer in the 2007 Chambers Global. Most recently Michael acted for lenders providing finance to various bidders for Carter Holt Harvey Forest Assets and advised Sky Network Television on its issue of up to $200 million unsecured, unsubordinated, resettable bonds. Michael acts for various banks and borrowers and for trustee companies on public issues of securities. Michael is ranked as a leading individual in banking and finance in Asia Pacific Legal 500 2006/07.
